Characteristics

The plain prinia’s back is mostly yellow-brown, and its cheeks, throat and belly is light yellow. The tail feathers are especially long. The bird is known as the “bâng-tang-tiu-á” in Taiwanese. Its nest looks like a sack so it is also called the “sack bird”.
Habits: The plain prinia is usually active in grasses around rice paddies and streambeds. The birds make rather simple “tlee, tlee, tlee” calls and fly up to the stems of plants to sing during the breeding season.
Resident/Common; Body length: 15 cm
Birdwatching period: year round
